Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a procedure that allows your doctor to see the small tubes inside your body called the pancreatic and bile ducts. These tubes are connected to your small intestine and they carry digestive juices from your liver and pancreas to the intestines.

ERCP is used to find and treat problems in the pancreatic duct and bile duct, such as gallstones, strictures, primary sclerosing cholangitis and cancer of the bile duct and pancreas. ERCP requires the use of X-ray during the procedure.
